A recent study has revealed that most species of butterflies in the world are found in Colombia.
Researchers from the project traveled to different parts of Colombia, analyzed more than 350,000 photographs, and studied data collected since the end of the 18th century.
Research has shown that this is about 20% of all butterfly species.
Blanca Hortaz, a member of the International Research Team of Scientists, says more than 200 species of butterflies are found in Colombia alone.

According to the National Department of Planning, between 2000 and 2019, Colombia lost 2.8 million hectares of forest, equal to the area of Belgium.
